During the electrical inspection the inspector is looking for any potential safety or fire hazards. Good electric wiring in a home is important not only for the usability but also for a safe living environment.

Types of conductors used in wiring:

  • Copper

  • Aluminum


Fire hazards could include:

  • Open junction boxes

  • Double tapping of wires in the panel

  • Overloaded breaker/fuses

  • Fused wires


Safety hazards could include:

  • Low hanging main lines

  • No gfci outlets/breakers near water sources

  • No outlet/switch covers

  • Low outlets in garage area

  • Open ground/reverse polarity
