Gutters

When inspecting gutters, the inspector needs to be extra cautious because gutters play an important role on a house. The gutters of a home deter the water from running up against the foundation of the home which can potentially make the foundation settle and move causing more damage to the other structure of a home. The gutters should be tacked tightly to the home with a drip edge installed. They should be free of any debris to let the water freely pass through to the downspouts.

The downspouts of the gutters should drain away from the foundation and not pool up against it, thus causing it to settle and move. In some scenarios an extension will be installed to make sure the water is draining away from the foundation. (Some extensions will be buried)
