Windows
During a home inspection, the inspector takes the time to not only inspect to see if the windows open properly, but also to make sure water cannot penetrate the home through the casing around the windows. Windows are essential to making a house feel like a home, but they are holes in the siding of a house; meaning that if not sealed properly, water can penetrate around the window causing substantial damages to the wall and interior structure of the home. Windows should be flashed and/or caulked all the way around the opening assuring that water will not enter the home. Windows can vary in different materials and need to be installed correctly according to type.
